Recently, multiple volcanoes have erupted around the globe and dozens of others are showing minor activity. Here in the U.S., Mt. Rainier, Yellowstone, and Mount Spurr are being monitored.
The Daily Mail reported:
Scientists have warned that a massive volcano in Alaska has a 50-50 chance erupting in the near future.
The 11,000-foot-tall Mount Spurr sits 77 miles from Anchorage— the state’s largest city which is home to nearly 300,000 people.
Over the last 10 months, it has been experiencing an unusually high amount of small earthquakes.
The increase in activity around Mount Spurr started around April 2024. The number of quakes increased from an average of 30 to 125 per week in October.
Kilauea in Hawaii remains the standout, with its ninth eruption episode since December 23, 2024, reported on February 20. Lava fountains have soared over 300 feet within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The Daily Mail had this to say about Mount Rainier:
Experts say it is only a matter of time until Mount Rainier, one of the most dangerous volcanos in the US, unleashes itself upon the Pacific Northwest.
This huge, active stratovolcano looms over nearly 90,000 people living in cities such as Seattle, Tacoma, and Yakima in Washington as well as Portland, Oregon.
One volcanologist had this to say of Mount Rainier:
‘Mount Rainier keeps me up at night because it poses such a great threat to the surrounding communities,’ Jess Phoenix, a volcanologist and ambassador for the Union of Concerned Scientists previously said during an appearance on CNN.
When this volcano eventually blows, it won’t be lava flows or choking clouds of ash that threaten surrounding cities, but lahars: violent, fast-moving mudflows that can tear across entire communities in a matter of minutes.
Mount Rainier’s close proximity to the people of Washington and Oregon would certainly have the potential to be devastating. Many fear there wouldn’t be time to warn people to evacuate. Parts of Tacoma and Southern Seattle are built on ancient mudflows from previous eruptions. These flows are 100-feet thick and indicate these cities lie within a path of potential future lahars.
Off the U.S. West Coast, the Axial Seamount, a submarine volcano 300 miles from Oregon, is predicted to erupt before the end of 2025 based on its swelling and seismic patterns.
The Axial Seamount is not part of the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which is said to be the area “The Big One” will strike, according to Popular Mechanics.
The Cascadia Subduction Zone poses risks to both California and Washington.
The Daily Mail wrote this warning about that area:
Scientists are sounding the alarm after a series of earthquakes rocked the West Coast last week, warning a major seismic event is ‘inevitable.’
Earthquakes trigger tsunamis by causing the ocean floor to rise or fall, pushing water above to form a massive wave.
NBC reported that a scientist warned of 80-foot-tall tsunami waves. Here’s some quotes from the article from June:
Harold Tobin, a co-author of the paper and the director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, said that although the data will help fine-tune projections, it doesn’t change a tough-to-swallow reality of living in the Pacific Northwest.
“We have the potential for earthquakes and tsunamis as large as the biggest ones we’ve experienced on the planet,” said Tobin, who is also a University of Washington professor. “Cascadia seems capable of generating a magnitude 9 or a little smaller or a little bigger.”
A quake that powerful could cause shaking that lasts about five minutes and generate tsunami waves up to 80 feet tall. It would damage well over half a million buildings, according to emergency planning documents.
As you can see, such an event could produce historical devastation.
Scientists warn that Yellowstone has the potential to produce the largest disaster.
MSN had this to say about Yellowstone:
While the blast would kill thousands and send rivers of molten lava pouring up to 40 miles (64km) from the eruption site, this would only be the start of the devastation.
Experts predict that every town in a 50-mile (80km) radius would be all but annihilated by the same pyroclastic flows that created the petrified figures of Pompeii.
Meanwhile, the United States would be blanketed in a thick layer of choking ash as the world plunges into a volcanic winter which could last for years.
Scientists warn of a global cooling event that could follow as well.
This is just a short summary of the volcanic activity that is currently happening.
We believe the increase in these events are Biblical. We also believe they will continue. We encourage everyone to live a life of repentance and continually seek the Lord as time moves closer to His appearing.
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
